Dr. Alicia Renee Farris, New Beginnings Consultant Group, LLC

Dr. Alicia Renee Farris is currently the State Director of Restaurant Opportunities Center of Michigan where she gives leadership to a local movement to achieve social and economic justice for restaurant workers and provides oversight for the Colors Detroit Restaurant.  Renee is also the CEO and Managing Partner of  New Beginnings Consultant Group, LLC and serves as the Vice President of Joint-Heir Ministries, School of Entrepreneurship & Leadership Development. 

Over the past thirty years she has been actively engaged in efforts to promote education, youth development, peace and nonviolence, community benefits, and women’s empowerment. Farris, a devout Christian, believes very deeply in the practical application of “The Beloved Community”.  She is a Level 3 Certified Kingian Nonviolence Trainer and founder of the Michigan Institute for Nonviolence Education.  Farris has worked in local and state government and in nonprofit settings such as New Detroit, Inc., Michigan Neighborhood Partnership and Doing Development Differently in Metropolitan Detroit. She has served on numerous advisory panels, nonprofit boards and public-private collaborative initiatives.

For twelve years Renee served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Liberal Arts and Education.  She has been the recipient of many local, state, and national awards.  In June 2015 she completed the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses Program and was named a “Finalist” for the National Campaign for Black Male Achievement Accelerator Program.

Thelma Young, ASQ, CMQ/QE

Thelma has 25 years of experience as an Accountant and Administrator in the private and public sectors. She has worked in various non-profit and for profit industries as a senior level executive. She is a well-rounded grass roots accountant that specializes in financial process improvement and quality assurance as well as all aspects of general and governmental accounting.  Thelma believes that preparing for any audit with each transaction keeps financial records and statements clean on a daily basis. She conducts business with integrity and excellence guided by the principles of the gospel of Christ.

Thelma has served at the Director of Accounting for the American Red Cross in Savannah, Georgia, a Sales Auditor at Express Corporate Finance in Columbus, Ohio, the Chief Administrative Officer at The Breathing Association in Columbus, Ohio, the Assistant Director of Compliance, Planning and Quality Assurance at the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Board in Columbus, Ohio and The Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Communities In Schools of Central Ohio. She is currently employed at the YMCA of Central Ohio where she serves as the Director of Grants Administration in the finance division. Thelma began her career serving in the United States Army.

Hysaan Goode-"H", President, Goode Solutions & Higher Retention Professional Training

Hysaan Goode-“H” is the Founder & President of Goode Solutions & Higher Retention & Professional Training. Goode Solutions is a temporary and permanent job placement service established in 2011.

Hysaan’s educational background is in Psychology with an emphasis in Human Services. His career choice in staffing services and educational publishing stemmed from over 10 years in sales. He began his entrepreneurial career over 8 years ago by first opening a rental property business.

 

H. finds career counseling to be extremely rewarding, and because of his various career paths he can relate to people in any culture and context. He also demonstrates the importance of developing good relationships and personal leadership skills as the core of enjoying success in a career and life in general.

H. is currently writing a book for people who have had major setbacks titled Refuse To Give Up. He facilitates workshops like this one for employees and employers addressing challenging workplace relational issues and life skills, in addition to managing a business. 

He lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Michelle, who is an educator and great cook. He has three children, Ava (7), Aren (6), and Ariah (4). Community involvement is important to H., as well as church and family. Currently he serves as a Co-Leader of the Columbus Business Network (CBN), a faith-based network of entrepreneurs, in-business owners and ministry leaders.

Robert "Bobby" Jackson, Robert Jackson Agency, Nationwide Insurance

Robert Jackson is a Principal Agent and Owner of The Robert Jackson Agency, Nationwide Insurance, located in Bexley, Ohio.  He has been an agency owner for the last 10 years and possesses over 18 years of insurance experience, which includes insurance sales for commercial, residential, personal and business products and claims handling.  Robert’s passion is to educate each individual on the importance of protecting one’s assets. 

 

Robert is an alumni of the Ohio State University where he received his Bachelors of Arts & Science in 1998. Robert spends a lot of time giving back to the community and currently serves as the Vice President the CYAA Saints, Little League Football Organization where he has coached for the last nine years. 

Attorney Hiram Peacock, Hiram R. Peacock, Esq., Registered Patent Attorney

Mr. Peacock is a solo practitioner and registered patent attorney, whose practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications, providing patentability/prior art searches and opinions, as well as providing an enterprise level perspective of intellectual property assets and business issues.  In addition, Hiram's areas of practice include civil litigation, business planning, estate planning, and start-up services including the preparation and negotiation of various business contracts including licensing agreements, consulting agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.  

Hiram works with a diverse client base of entrepreneurs, small to mid-size businesses, and even individuals to bring their God given business ideas and inventions to the market place.  Hiram is also a professor with the Joseph Business School in Forest Park, IL and teaches various legal courses. Hiram is a native of Chicago, Illinois and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science and Juris Doctor, both from DePaul University. He has been a member of the U.S. Patent bar since 2003.  In addition to being a member of the Patent Bar and Illinois bar, Hiram gained over 15 years of business experience with several Fortune 500 companies in the areas of computers, engineering, and project management. Hiram has a beautiful wife, and seven lovely children.

Peter A. Smith, M.B.A.

Peter Smith currently serves as a Business Consultant for Enterprise Industries and former Business Adviser with the Propel Management Group. In these capacities he discusses and assesses business plans with small business clients and key contributors. Working with clients on several projects, he meets their expectations and increases revenues; monitors productivity of teams and departments to evaluate their performance.

In addition, Peter evaluates overall performance and integration of several projects and analyzes complex problems in business areas to provide lean solutions.  Peter stewards an M.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance and holds a Certification in Project & Inventory Management. He is also an active U.S. Army Reserve, having served in numerous promotions of Unit Movement Officer, Executive Officer and Platoon Leader.

Joe Woodley, Author & Public Speaker, JoeSpeaksLife

Joe Woodley is an author and inspirational public speaker. His specialty is equipping leaders and teams with the relational skills and divine truths they need to flourish and navigate through the unique challenges presented in today's’ high-performance marketplace environments.  In his own unique style, emerging from a plethora of transformative life experiences, Joe provides workshops, seminars and other resources to emphasize the necessity of excellence in character, integrity, leadership, support-care and accountability. 

 

JoeSpeaksLife partners with faith-based organizations, businesses, community groups, non-governmental organizations and educational entities inspiring and impacting transformation in people, which produces transformed environments and communities.

 

His literary works which include, 'You Were Born to Win So, Suck it Up Buttercup' and 'Return Home Wounded Warriors: The Church is You' are tools causing a shift in the readers thought process and actions. Joe is a special guest for conferences and his voice is recognized on numerous nationally syndicated broadcasts. He, his wife and children reside in the Central Ohio region.

Mrs. Claudia Lopez

Claudia is a KBD 2017 Alumni, entrepreneur and community leader.  She serves in many capacities as a loving wife, mother, daughter and designer of custom sports and casual T's with a South American flair.  Serving as a Spanish language facilitator Claudia says, "is my way of assisting people in the Hispanic community to explore and develop their ideas to increase jobs for others as well."
