Virtual Reading Coach Program
(VRCP)
The VRCP provides free one-on-one Reading Comprehensive Support to under-resourced K-5 elementary students who are first English speakers in their family.
Counties Served: Delaware, Franklin and Licking, Ohio!
How VRCP Works
Trained adult and high school student volunteers (grades 9-12) are paired with an elementary school student, grades K to 5, for Reading Comprehensive Support through Zoom technology.

The Reading Coach host a weekly reading session with an assigned elementary student, at the same time each week, for 30-45 minutes, for a total of 2 to 3 hours per month of reading comprehension support. Reading sessions are facilitated through Zoom, with parental supervision for each session. In addition, the VRCP Coordinator regularly monitors the reading sessions each month.
Parents/guardians of eligible elementary students obtain reading related homework from school teachers and grade appropriate reading books from the local library. In addition, Reading Coaches access free “Flip Books” sourced from on-line libraries.
